Ingredients
For Pie & Filling
For Pie Crust (optional)
Directions
This applesauce custard pie is super simple to make and irresistibly tasty. The filling comes together quickly, and you can use either store-bought or homemade applesauce. I chose to go with my Easy Homemade Cinnamon Applesauce recipe. You can also use a pre-made pie crust or follow our recipe.

Prepare the crust by combining 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a large mixing bowl, stirring until combined. Next, use a pastry cutter or fork to cut in 1 stick of diced cold butter (8 tablespoons).
Once butter is cut in, the mixture should resemble small pebbles, add in 1/3 cup of cold water stirring until combined.
The dough should look shaggy; gently knead it until it comes together into a cohesive ball. Flatten it into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 cup of unsalted butter.
Add in 2 eggs and mix until combined.
Stir in the applesauce one cup at a time. If you're using store-bought applesauce and find it too thin, you can thicken it by mixing in 1 to 2 teaspoons of cornstarch.
Roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch pie plate, then use a fork to flute or crimp the edges.
Preheat oven to 425°F. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and bake for 30-40 minutes, rotating halfway through to ensure even baking. After baking, let the pie cool completely before serving. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
Serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!
